Default The Krapitz report card

http://www.indystar.com/article/2010...ts-report-card

If nothing else, the Colts discovered two very impressive young defensive tackles, Antonio Johnson and Daniel Muir.

Jerraud Powers’ injury may have had more of an effect than Freeney’s. Powers was limited to dime situations, which meant a whole lot of Tim Jennings, which meant a whole lot of eight-yard gains with Jennings giving a 10-yard cushion. Two words: Carved up.

Why Chad Simpson is returning a kickoff that lands three yards deep in the end zone is anybody’s guess. Note to Bill Polian: Get a return man. Please.

I can count on two fingers the number of times I’ve disagreed with Jim Caldwell on anything this season. And then came the Super Bowl. Why did they go conservative late in the first half? Totally out of character. Why didn’t they try to move the ball closer for Stover on a third-and-11 at the Saints’ 33? And when they went deep and incomplete, why send out a guy who hadn’t made a 50-yarder all year and risk giving Brees the shorter field? Don’t you consider a punt there?

When was the last timethe Colts had a return man?Do we have to trace back to Baltimore? It use to be real scary when they had Troy "stone hands" Walters who wasn't big enough to go on most amusement rides.

I don't always agree with Kravitz, but his analysis of the Colts this past season has been spot on. His column after the Colts gave up to the Jets in Week 16 was one of his best pieces ever and his assessment of the SB was spot on. It is exactly what we have been saying on this forum.

Aren't Polian's teams like 1-5 in SBs now? Probably not a good time for him to call anyone names.

Let's see the last good return man I saw. . . . . got cut and just won a super bowl.

Judgment for this season's success was always going to come down to whether or not the team won on February 7th. How would playing the starters all out the last two games of the regular season have changed the outcome of yesterday's game?

They got beat because they made mistakes in all facets of the game, not because they didn't play the starters for 5 more quarters in the regular season.

Very true. If anything, the Colts performance this post-season validated the rest-the starters approach. The Saints did it too.

The Colts losing the Superbowl has NOTHING to do with resting their starters a MONTH earlier.

Thank goodness for that. The two teams that clinched early had a combined five-game losing streak to end the regular season (3 losses for The Saints, 2 losses for The Colts)........ and they both excelled in the post-season.

When I saw Welker returning, I wondered about Garcon.
