Yes, Lovie is still on the Texans payroll - for now at least. It is sort of a weird situation - their GM dismissed their head coach and OC and kept a lot of the other staff such as Lovie and Pep. I think their GM wants to keep Lovie, but things may change depending on who they hire for head coach. Last edited by AlwaysSunnyinIndy; 01-28-2022 at 10:35 AM. |

Flus is a good coach and I’m not sure his replacement will actually be an upgrade. We can only hope, I guess. It’s not like they could have kept him from leaving either, or that they would have even wanted to. |

So now Rapoport is saying Eberflus is taking both Rowe and Borgonzi to Chicago. And a new front runner has emerged for Chicago's OC job - Green Bay's QB coach. Hmm, I guess this would allow an external candidate for the Colts DC position a chance to help assemble the defensive staff - there will apparently be a lot of openings to fill. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1487151959924690944 Quote:

As I’m sure you know, that wasn’t all on the defense.
I’m not arguing that Eberflus was great or irreplaceable. I’m just saying the odds are the next guy they hire won’t be as good. |

I’m sick and tired of watching bend but don’t break defenses designed to force the opposing offense to nickel and dime its way down the field on the stupid premise that, somewhere along the line, they’ll muck up. I don’t want to stop the run on the way to the Quarterback. I don’t want a coach who invented his scheme 50 years ago, who watched Offenses solve it 20 years ago, and then decided not to change a thing in response. I don’t want a vanilla pass rush and a junior high school coverage scheme. I don’t want prayer breakfasts and homilies at midfield. I want a coach whose philosophy involves kicking the crap out of a guy when he’s down, then turning his dog on him. |

This is my fear. I think Eberflus main problem was not having a pass rush. That's on Ballard. 'Flus did the best with what he had and did a good job considering. The next guy is going to have a difficult job ahead of him.
