From an ESPN.com article:
Quote:
On 636 pass rushes over the past two seasons, Sheard generated 13 sacks and 22 quarterback knockdowns.

Over that same time frame, Packers LB Nick Perry had 14.5 sacks and 20 knockdowns on 543 pass rushes for the Packers.

Perry has been more productive, but he is earning $60 million over five years. Sheard is getting less than half that -- $25.5 million and $12.8 million in guarantees -- on his new three-year deal with the Colts.

I'd prefer to take a shot on Sheard breaking out given more playing time than to pay the full-time Perry as a premium pass-rusher.
So, Sheard got a sack or hit on 3.93% of his pass rush attempts.

Perry got a sack or a hit on 6.44% of his pass rush attempts.

No info on how many "hurries" either guy got. Just when they hit the opposing QB.

If we average their pass rushes per season to 295 rushes, that percentage different results in 7.5 more knockdowns per season or just under 0.5 per game for about 150% the price ($12m per season instead of $8.5m).

Ballard did well on this one, I think.

Cheers,
