Colts ILB's
I was just looking at a few stats and was looking at the pass deflections from our ILB's. Between Antonio Morrison, Jon Bostic, Jeremiah George and Anthony Walker we had a grand total of 4 pass deflections. That's not for 1 game, that's an entire season! To make matters even worse there was not a single interception from that group of guys. How can you go through an entire season with your ILB's only touching the ball a grand total of 4 times. And as for the bone jarring hits that cause a fumble, well we had a total of........ZERO, yes not a single forced fumble from this pathetic group.
I knew our interior linebackers were not good, but i hadn't realised that they were quite as bad as the raw statistics would indicate. We really do need to bring in a better pass rush and offensive line help, but i am not so sure if either of those positions are actually our biggest weakness. |

how does that compare to other teams?

It's been a problem for a while now and one of the many reasons we were 4-12. If a couple of those games had been 2 minutes longer we'd have been 2-14.

Comparing 3-4 base defenses in our conference according to NFL.com
Tennessee: Wesley Woodyard, Avery Williamson, Jayon Brown, and a few other guys, i don't pretend to know others teams rosters that well......they combined for 7 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles, but they also contributed with 9 and a half sacks. Colts group had 1 and a half. Houston: Zach Cunningham, Dylan Cole, Benardrick McKinney combined for 10 pass deflections, 2 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles plus 5 and a half sacks. Chiefs: Derrick Johnson, Reggie Ragland, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Terrance Smith, and a few others came up with 11, (Johnson had 7 himself), 1 int, 1 forced fumble and 1 sack. Chargers: Jatavis Brown, Densel Perryman, Hayes Pullard, Korey Toomer had 5 pass deflections, 2 ints, 2 forced fumbles with just the 1 sack. Ravens: C.J. Mosley, Kamalei Correa, Patrick Onweasor, had 12 (Mosley had 7) pass deflections, 2 ints, 4 forced fumbles and 2 sacks. Steelers: Vince Williams, Sean Spence, L.J. Fort, Tyler Matakevich had 6 pass deflections, 1 int, with no forced fumbles, but they did have 10 sacks Denver: Brandon Marshall, Todd Davis and Corey Nelson had 4 pass deflections, 0 ints, 1 forced fumble along with 4 sacks. |

ILB has been pure trash for the Colts since Grigson let Jerrell Freeman get away.

I don't think Grigson placed much value on the mike position. Why he went to the cfl for a starter in the first place.

Sad to see one of our current ILB’s go down like this:

Ditch the 3-4. Always wondered how the 4-3 would work if the again Mathis and Freeney were not converted LBers.
