Seems to me that when you're kicking the tires on a QB, that you might want to sign him to a 2 year contract. If he sucks, you cut him and eat a manageable sum of money. If he turns out to be someone you really want, you have him for another year at a manageable sum and have plenty of time to renegotiate.
