As great a back as he is (and he is great) you cannot have an offense with a back as your primary weapon. NFL defenses will stop you. To me the issue isn't that they stopped him. It is that we have been unable to make defenses pay for committing to stopping us. If we had been able to JT would have been over 100 yards multiple times after Atlanta and nobody would have written this article.

Part of the problem was the quality of defenses he faced.
Jacksonville was the best team in the league, this year, vs the run. Seattle was 3rd Houston 4th San Francisco was 9th KC finished at 11. If Jones had been able to stay healthy, if the deep threat hadn’t disappeared, if great run defenses hadn’t been able to compress the field, Taylor might have fared better. |
