With no existing contract for 2026, I don't wee how any NFL team would do more than sign him to a one year "show me" contract at relative low dollar amounts (somewhere in the $10m - $12m range) so they could start him on the IR, activate him when he is ready and have him battle for the starting postion through the season with whomever they have starting (or as a qualtiy backup if their starter is set and they think they want that extra insurance for the end of the season and playoffs).
Alas, I think the timing is terrible for the Colts. I don't think we can take the risk of signing him to a long-term contract and signing him to a one-year seems like treading water.

Do we know what kind of repair Jones had done? If it's the new kind of repair, SpeedBridge, the return timeline on that is 6-9 months. The information I can find suggests that that is the type of repair he had. That would be plenty of time for Jones to be ready for 2026.
