Default Good time for the Bye

Colts are 8 and 2 and get a week off. I think it's a good time for it, they need to get a few things worked out.

1. More balance between run and pass. I think early on, teams didn't fear the Colts passing game, so it thrived. But now it's respected so there needs to be more balance. Currently, we've passed the ball almost twice as many times as we've run. And most of these passes have been down the field, with very few screens

2. The bye week also enables the pass D to get comfortable with Gardner and maybe even get Ward back.

3. The OL has got to get their shit together regarding picking up blitzes. Perhaps if there are more runs, they'll begin to dominate again.

I'm loving this team, but honestly, without the superman performances by JT, this team is .500 at best.

One man's opinion.

Jones has a very disturbing habit of coughing up the ball. He has very poor pocket awareness which leads to what seems like an inordinate number of fumbles.

He has really struggled these past two weeks so yes, the bye is coming at an opportune time.

Of course, after the bye we get trips to Kansas City and Seattle sandwiched around a very good Texans defense at home so things aren’t gonna get easier.

Also, I agree that without JT’s heroics this team would have struggled mightily so far this year.

With regards to the pass protection. Yes, the O-line has regressed in pass protection...in particular Braden Smith. But, that is not the whole story.

It's not like Daniel Jones was besieged by an early pass rush. In fact that was rarely the case. I can place equal blame on DJ as well as play calling.

Maybe DJ needs more freedom at the line to check to whatever he wants. Because there wer obvious blitz situations where we just were not prepared.

Yes, this an excellent time for the bye for the Colts. Some self-scouting needs to be done to break tendencies. I also believe that more bootlegs for DJ would be beneficial. DJ has got to stop drifting back in the pocket though, because he's turning 5 yd sacks into 10 yd sacks.

Shout out to the special teams! Every one of those big returns were critical to the victory.

Good to see ya, albany ed!

If you're still around these parts, then I suppose I've got no excuse to not make more frequent appearances!

It's been an exciting season that I'd be lying if I said I saw it coming!

Indeed a good time for the bye and for me! Checking in on TUE morning so Dr Frankenstein can carve on me like an early Turky and give me a brand new hip! Woohoo!!!

So looks like 4-7 days inpatient (so I will not miss a Colts game) then 6 weeks on crutches.

Helluva good time to be a Colts fan in any case and so pyched to see how this back half plays out. Would have been fun to go to have made Berlin for the game or even Madrid next week for the NFL experience given I am in Barcelona but this will get me fixed up to wear my blue dancing shoes when the Colts get to the big dance!!!!

In another thread, I pointed out my concerns about Jones' lack of pocket-presence.

Jones's pass-protection from the offensive line was awful today, but I also think that he showed a lack of pocket-presence on several occasions ...... late in the first half, the Colts had 2nd-and-1 near midfield. Jones took a sack to put them in a near-impossible 3rd-and-11 with the clock running. He needed to get rid of the ball for an incomplete pass to stop the clock and save the yards, and the Colts still would have been in good shape at 3rd-and-1 ....... also with the fumbles, he was lucky that he didn't lose 2 today, as one of his fumbles very fortuitously fell out of bounds before the Falcons could recover it.

I still am. Lately, I've been going to a place called 605 on New Scotland to watch the games. Directly across the street from St. Peter's Hospital. I could just stay home to watch the games, I have the package, but it's just fun to watch it with other fans. Join me if you wish.
