Default 2025 NFL Draft

We are nine days away from the draft and I honestly cannot remember a season where I could care less.

I don't know if I have completely lost faith in Ballard to find guys who can actually play football and not just be a high RAS score....

I don't know if I have completely lost faith in team ownership given a hoot....

I don't know if I am in love with virtually any of our players. Not like my man-crush on the likes of Peyton, Marvin, Reggie, Dwight, Mathis, Brackett, Edge, Glenn, Saturday or any of the other great players we have had over the past 25 years. I like DeFo and Steward and MP but otherwise....ehhhh....

I do know that I have lost faith in A.R. to be a franchise QB. I hope to all that is holy that by the end of the this season I can say I was wrong but I don't think that will be the case.

I really hope the Colts can give me something to be excited about this season because I am having a hard time caring right now.

This is the time of year that i love as much as any other and i am excited about the draft.

But i do agree with you about the inability to be able to put your hat on many Colt players long term. I do like Kenny Moore, Buckner, Stewart, Downs, and Raimann, also Fries until we let him go this year. Nelson was another, but hearing some of his interviews during the course of the season i am a bit indifferent now.

I’m still excited and hoping we get Warren somehow. It couldn’t be setup any better for the Colts this year. Sitting at 14 and 2 of the top players in this draft are tight ends.

As I've gotten older, none of the sports get me as excited as they once did. I still get worked up about the draft, hoping that some of the later round selections hold a hidden gem, but all in all, the Colts are my team and I root for them without huge expectations.

I can't look away from the Colts. The day I give up on this team will be the day I give up on sports entirely. I feel much of the same though, honestly.

The sport itself has lost some magic for me. I presume it's worse for you old guys here but now that I'm closer to 40 than 30 I see it more than I ever have before. In my youth I would roll my eyes at assertions that players of yesterday would have dominated today, but now I see a sport that just does not require the same type of men, durability, nor toughness and I kind of understand. I fell in love with this game because it wasn't like the other games, it required so much more than basketball, baseball, etc.

Of course some of that is still there but I have found myself watching a lot of vintage football recently. I don't find today's game nearly as interesting so I do not find myself digging through draft prospects like I may have in years past. Perhaps that has more to do with the apathy enabled by this franchise though, so there's that.

And then you read a story about a draft prospect whose dad made him watch film on John Riggins and tell him that’s how you play football!!! And the colts have the potential to get that guy, yea it’s still gets me excited and I’m 43 years old now

Probably a little of all of that... and a lot of the QB situation.

We had the excitement of wait-and-see regarding his potential when they drafted him. That extended throughout the season and into the next because he got hurt and Minshew almost won the division.

And we've basically had that year after year since Luck when you were looking forward to seeing Rivers, then Wentz, then Ryan, then AR, whoops he's hurt, then AR again...

But now you've seen it and he'll compete with Jones. And so a lot of people have probably gone from years of cautiously optimistic ---> reserved pessimistic. How would you feel if Wentz came back for a year 2? Probably the same.

And that means... it doesn't matter if you have an offense whose only hole is TE and we're in prime position to get one of two exciting 1st-rounders.

It doesn't matter that you got a new DC who is more creative and dynamic or that you brought in two coveted DB free agents.

Until you witness your QB, whoever it is, is not a liability... you'll probably have this sense of , "meh."

No real apathy here, at least in team sense. I did boycott week 18 vs the Jags due to the total shit show that the defense and JT put on display in the previous game.

I will say this though...The Colts desperately need a generational player that both excites the fan base and becomes a player that garners national recognition and accolades. A face of the franchise, so to speak. A guy that, when you mention the Colts, people eyes open up and they say...OMG you have best (fill in the blank) in the NFL.

Ballard will have to find that guy to keep his job.

We just lost two guys he drafted to massive contracts we couldn’t match.

The Manning years were a golden age we were lucky to live through. That isn’t the norm. The norm is you have a couple year window then you suck, everyone gets fired, you draft high for awhile till you get lucky at the top of the draft and get good again for a little while. If you’re really lucky you get a good QB and have a decade window. We have a good team but bad QB play, or young QB play. However you want to put it. If they can fill that position I think the team can compete with most others.but it’s the hardest position to fill.

I'm one of the older posters on this site, 78 and counting. To me football is not about the game anymore, its about the money, and I blame Goodell for that. The changes that he has instituted, in my opinion, have ruined, or are ruining
the game. Kickoffs are not kickoffs anymore, you have to make appointments with the opposition for onside kicks, breathe on a QB and its a penalty. I to used to get excited when draft day approached, but Goodell has turned that into a circus also. Friday morning I'll check to see who the Colts drafted, but the excitement is long gone !!!!!
