And here is evidence of an even bigger problem. Just what the hell do you have to do to get benched? If this fucked up play doesn't justify a benching I don't know what does. I guess Steichen doesn't believe in disciplinary measures. I had a coach who was a rah-rah type who wanted so badly to be liked by his players that he never earned our respect. He was a real nice guy but lost the team. I'm sure Steichen is a nice guy too. I suspect he doesn't have the respect of his team tho. Indy seems to be a great place for a player/coach/general manager to collect a check. Not a great place if you're looking for on field success. The organization just doesn't seem to have a winning culture. For this simple minded man I don't claim to have an easy solution but as an observer of the game for 50+ years I can tell you what obviously doesn't work and I'm sure it's quite evident to most of you that the Irsays can't see the obvious or just don't really care as long as they are making a profit and can say "I own an NFL team."
