Default Quick thoughts Jets edition.

1. Great win. A road win is always good.
2. I thought JT ran hard. It seemed like he ran better than his numbers indicated.
3. Can we talk about how good Grover Stewart is? That dude is straight BALLING right now. He’s making Buck look invisible.
4. Same for Jaylon Jones. I think he’s playing his way into a nice payday somewhere.
5. This defense has two good defensive tackles, a good slot corner, a promising young outside corner, and really nothing else. Everything else is painfully average, to the point of invisibility.
6. That said, this defense is held back by Gus Bradley’s amateurish scheme.
7. It was good to have Pitt back. He’s our most important receiver. But Josh Downs is more talented. He is INSANELY good. If anything, he is under utilized.
8. Shane Steichen needs to pick a tight end. This rotation of a bunch of mediocre guys isn’t working. Pick one mediocre guy and stick with him.
9. Now, let’s talk about AR. This is what he can be. This is what we thought he WOULD be. He’s never going to be Drew Brees. He’s never going to be a pinpoint accurate passer. But he can be as good or better in his own way. The offense he is in HAS to feature his ability to run the ball. I understand the fear of him getting hurt. But if you take the running option away from him, he will not be successful. He CANNOT be successful if that is taken away from him.
10. I INTENSELY dislike Aaron Rodgers. I think he’s the most overrated quarterback in the NFL. He was good in his day but he’s washed up right now. F**k that guy.
11. The colts are somehow still alive in the playoff race and even in the division. Just two and a half games back of Houston, who I think is extremely overrated. That said, Gus Bradley’s defense is going to get ANALLY RAPED by Detroit next weekend.

To point 5, I think Paye and Latu had their best game as a duo today.

I agree with almost every point. Although, I do Think we have a promising pass rush somewhere. But, we may never know with Bradley running the D.

Latu consistently gets pressure as a rookie and Paye came up with 2 clutch sacks to ice the game. I'd say those two are good, and I still think Latu has the potential to be great.

I think Nick Cross can be a really good player when used properly. I like him

paye is a good overall player but is he even an average pass rusher? not much consistency from him there. even against bad competition

This was ARs first full career game with a passer rating over 100 (he was running 116 in the PIT game before injury where he was 3 of 4 for 71 yards).

This was ARs first full career game with over a 65% completion rating (66.67%, 20 of 30).

This was ARs second full career game with zero interceptions (earlier this year against MIA).

This was ARs first career game over 225 yards passing (272 yards).

This was ARs third LOWEST full game rushing yard total in his career (32 yards; 24 yards against both CHI and PIT earlier this year).

This was ARs second LOWEST full game average yards per rush stats in his career (3.2 ypc; 3.0 ypc vs CHI earlier this year).

Overall, probably the best game AR has delivered in his young career. This is what we were hoping to get out of him to grow on.

I'd at least give him average, he had 8.5 sacks last year and now has 5.5 this year. That said, this was the expectation of what he would be, a good 2nd DE who was a good run defender and at his best as a pass rusher be good for 8-10 sacks, maybe 12 in a career year. At least that was my projection of a high end outcome for him.
