I had high hopes for Hines, oh well. I guess the grass isn't always greener.

I like Hines a bunch....but not how the Colts used him.

Sorry, but I point to Reich almost 100% for the failure to use Hines as he could have been used.

"Look, we have Jonathan Taylor who is one of the best between the tackles running backs in the league. Let's script 85% of our rush attempts to be between the tackles."

"Look, we have Hines who is terrible running between the tackles. But, since we have JT doing it, we will have NH do it as well. So what that he only averages 1.1 yards between the tackles!"

When I look at Hines, I see a Darrel Sproles type back. That dude fricking killed the Colts for years with swing passes, short delayed crossing routes, pitch toss to the corner, etc. The Charges got him out in space and he was like a greased pig.

But our offensive staff, to include the HC, could not be bothered with putting in plays that specifically to work with Hines strength. Instead, on 1st and 10? Hines up the middle for 1.1 yards.

I hope that having a camp with the Bills in 2023 will increase his touches because he is a great weapon...if used correctly.

The conditional draft pick has been settled.

The Bills will be sending the Colts a 5th Round draft pick to complete the Hines / Moss trade.

The conditional draft pick the Bills traded to the Colts for RB Nyheim Hines turned out to be a 5th rounder. It is the Bills original/own 5th going to Indy.

The Bills still have the Arizona Cardinals 5th rounder which was from the Cody Ford trade.

Are they just not going to explain what the conditions were?

I wonder if Hines will decide to stay in Buffalo.

The Bills will certainly want to restructure his existing contract. They would probably offer him some guaranteed money for lowering his cap values in 2023 and 2024.

Or if he wants out, he could decline the restructure talks and the Bills will likely cut him (zero dead cap hit).

It could be his first time as a free agent and the opportunity to choose where to llve / play.

o

Good ...... now we can take CJ Stroud in the 5th round, after we take 4 offensive linemen in the first 4 rounds.

Since the Colts received the better draft pick (it was either going to be a 5th or a 6th), and considering how little Hines played on offense in Buffalo, the conditions were probably based on how many games he was Active and playing.

That's almost certainly the case. Unless it's something to do with BUF's draft position or something. I just don't understand why it's a big secret.

Or maybe most of these conditional transactions are like this and I just never paid attention. The 5th is good news, though.

It's not that uncommon for the details of the conditional terms to be omitted from reporting for trades involving later round draft picks.

Another example would be the Colts-Jets trade involving Nate Hairston.

There was some type of condition that was never met (and never reported at the time of the trade). Ultimately, the Colts received no compensation from that trade:

Unfortunately for Hines and the Bills, it won't happen in 2023.

Hines suffered a significant knee injury off site before training camp even started.

Expected to miss the entire season.

Hopefully the Colts can get through camp and pre-season without too many injuries.

A tough break for Buffalo and the versatile Hines, who was acquired at the trade deadline last fall.

Nyheim Hines suffered an ACL injury in his left knee and surgery is likely to occur this week.
