So basically they’re hoping for a miraculous healing and the surgery is pretty much inevitable.

That’s how I’m reading this.

And the fact that they’re tossing this Hail Mary now instead of just having the surgery tells me the surgery won’t be as minor as they’d like us to believe.

The season is circling the drain at this point. I fully expect him to miss most, if not all, of the season.

Nobody know what info Wentz got when he made his decision. Maybe rest has a 90% chance to work, we have no idea. It sounds like he may miss a few games. Gives us a chance to see what we have in Eason. This is a well rounded team. The sky isn’t falling. We took a hit. This is way better than when what’s his name retired on us before the season. Plus may save our first.

The initial claim, if I remember correctly, was that the surgery would have him back somewhere around week 1. If that’s accurate, there was really no reason not to have the surgery now.

It feels like this is a last ditched effort to avoid what would be a major surgery.

I take everything they say with a HUGE grain of salt. They are inveterate liars when it comes to quarterback injuries.

Wentz to have surgery, out 5-12 weeks

Stephen Holder
@HolderStephen

Breaking: Frank Reich says Carson Wentz had an old foot injury dating back to perhaps high school according to doctors. Over time, the broken bone came loose and caused pain. The decision has been made to undergo surgery and remove it. 5-12 weeks.

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet

That was fast. #Colts QB Carson Wentz will have surgery to repair his foot, per coach Frank Reich. He’s out up to 12 weeks, but could be much less. They will remove a bone in his foot.

That's what I read a little while ago: 4PM surgery today. Recovery time is 5-12 weeks.
At least we'll keep our first round pick.

Not the end of the world. I suppose it's better than ligament damage.

I'm betting that we don't trade for a veteran until the staff feels confident that that Eason is not the answer.

So maybe similar to the Brissett trade, late pre-season or early season.
