Imagine if Eason was ready
Imagine if Eason was ready to pilot the Colts and turned out to be similar to Herbert? Getting a serviceable back up and using all the cap money and draft picks on solving some of the other Colts needs like LT, pass rushing DE and another solid CB.

Reich saying he wants Rivers back kind of signals that Eason is not ready.

Here is some news on Eason finally. He has a big arm, but they do t think he is ready. I suggest a sub to the athletic. It’s worth it. |

The Athletic article implies that Eason was and still is on a two year plan. If the Colts bring Rivers back and don't invest to much in the qb position it may bode well for what they see in Eason. They really seem to like his work effort. Ballard certainly will bring in someone, if for nothing other than competition.

Eason will probably never be ready. He is a long shot and counting on him is silly.

If you're right, forget about the Colts being a superbowl contender for awhile, unless Ballard makes a trade for a QB ala the Buckner deal.
