Default A question for the Colt fans.

All right. We have Ron Meeks in Carolina Now. Obviously we had a slew of Defensive issues in the last half of the Season and basically are having a new Defensive Staff come in.

What was your opinion of Meeks?

If you want the general opinion on Ron Meeks then go back to any of the "Fire Meeks" threads from the last 3-4 years. That pretty much says all you need to know.

I think you will be thrilled with how few big pass plays your defense gives up. As a benefit, You will also get used to 5-10 yd cushion by you DB on every pass play. Get ready for really long drives for the opposition in hope they make a mistake.

We are already used to the cushion the DB's give. Larry fitzgerald really killed us in the Playoffs. It was heartbreaking seeing him catch passes 5 yards out and the only thing close was Jon Beason, who looked like he was playing a QB spy.
Was just looking over one of your threads (Meeks gets hired or something like that) It sounds eerily similar to what hurt our D last year.
Bend don't break
5-10 DB Cushions
Screens and Draws.

John Fox Drives me Crazy sometimes.

I really appreciate the input.

I think it will be interesting to see how Meeks does under a different head coach.

Like fans know what they are talking about. From the numbers, the Colts D was better after Meeks than before he and Dungy arrived. He had good talent, and took advantage of it.

I think he was a good assistant coach, he followed the plan the head coach laid out.

good point. I was trying to figure out how to say it without it appearing I was slamming Dungy or being a Meeks ballwasher.

It is a shame you have to choose your words carefully on here or be accused of being a ballwasher.

And those people you just ignore.

I didn't always agree with the D and how Dungy would pull back the DB's. But I can't argue with the results, they won a lot of games and increased the +/- on the turnovers.

The people who bash Meeks, yet at the same time praise Dungy mystify me. How does that work? Dungy had his stamp on every part of this team, he just hold it over his coaches and make sure everyone knew HE WAS IN CHARGE, like Bill big Cheater.

Was the Colts D perfect? Nope. And they did pretty good with the guys they had avalible.
