If he followed Nelson, they were likely C gap runs, which is and/or usually takes a RB to the perimeter. Lots of Mack's runs, especially the big ones, broke toward the sidelines or well outside of the hashes.
If he follows Q, that's literally, "between the tackles" though, so even if he ends up on the sidelines after her gets past the line of scrimmage, it's an inside run, right?
