The biggest difference in this game is that the Texans have Watson and we have Brissett.
I asked this earlier, but how big would the gap be between us and them if we swapped QBs?
Watson is a really good QB, but he's not top 5 or anything. My point is, we really don't need an elite QB to be a contender with Reich as our coach and this offensive line. But we sure as hell need an upgrade from Brissett.

And I'm going to irrationally blame the Thursday night bullshit for being partially responsible for this loss. Quite a few stars aligned for the Texans to take a stranglehold on the division 11 game into the season this year.

I think that going for it on 4th down was the right call.
If they had punted it back to the Texans, there would have been a good chance that the offense wouldn't see the ball again ........ going for it gave them an extra chance to win the game (going for it was one chance, and if they didn't make it, the defense still had a chance to force a punt for another chance.) If they had punted the ball, they would have only had one chance to win the game (relying solely on the defense.)

It wasn't over last year when the Colts were 1-5, and it isn't over this year at 6-5 ........ they still have a split against the Texans, and they both have identical records within the division (3-1.)

I thought we did some really stupid shit in this game, a lot of very questionable clock shit, stuff that is not characteristic of Reich.
The losses to the Steelers and the Dolphins made this a MUST game and frankly, it felt like Frank had a very tentative approach and coddled some guys too much with too much worry about the short week. Overall I think he takes a hyper conservative approach, in some respects the new "load management" approach we see in the NFL aimed at having fresh legs for the stretch run- and I think there's some solid logic in that - to a limit. At some point you gotta fucking just go get it and to me, I don't see a team that looks like they have that mentality.
I doubt we make the playoffs and that's a shame because we SHOULD be in the playoffs with this roster. This really feels like a year wasted now...

Yeah I agree, it's a nearly unwatchable product at this point. I get it, that shit is intangible, you can't really quantify it, but you can sure as fuck feel it and you can see it with your eyes, that shit is GONE from this league, gone. It's become this weird mishmash of fucking window dressing bullshit mixed with truly incredibly bad guys wearing the officials uniforms- they are grotesque in their inability to facilitate continuity and this concept of the grand pooba in NY behind the curtain controlling this shit- what a catastrophe that shit is!

I logged back in just so I could thank and comment on this post. This is absolutely correct. The NFL knew it was over for the Colts when Luck quit. They can't come out and say that of course, but they knew. Thus, the dramatic lack of Colts coverage. Houston is also a much larger city and market. More eyeballs and money spent per game. It's all about the revenue. The "rules" are very arbitrary. Goodnight

I’ve always believed the most important thing for any sports team is the front office. We have a good one. Long term this team will be ok. This year impossible to overcome loss of Luck the way it happened. Young team that didn’t win games it should have, like a lot of young teams do. Shitty for us.

It's funny how quickly opinions change around here. One week, the OL is da bomb, but if they have one bad game, they're over-rated. JB has a stellar game, throwing 4 TDs and it's let's hope we can lock him up without breaking the bank. Marlin Mack is awesome, Marlin Mack is too fragile.
Bottom line, all these players are human and they have good and bad games. I saw Nelson whiff on a key block that would have resulted in a huge run had he made it. It doesn't mean he sucks, it was just one play. There is not a single player in the NFL that doesn't have some shitty plays during each game. It's too early to write JB off, but I do agree he has flaws. If the right opportunity comes along, I agree with finding a better option, but not at the cost of a block busting trade to move up on draft day. This team still has way too many holes to fill and depth to attain.
I still believe this team can make the playoffs, but without Luck, I never thought they could go far and I still don't. I'm just enjoying what we have, a good coach, a great GM, and a lot of youth with bright futures. It could be a lot worse, I live in NY and most of my friends are either Giants or Jets fans.

I agree with you. Question, do you think it is wise to go forward with Brissett and build a team around him that can win or would you go all in for a new quarterback? I think Ballard is not going to use a whole lot of draft picks to move up for a qb. I think that is wise as most of the 'can't miss' guys actually miss. It is a tough decision as I think it is clear that Brissett cannot carry a team like our last qb could (but not many could) However I do think he is good enough if surrounded by a great defense and more play makers on offense to win.

I think the jury is still out on Brissett. Right now, he's the best we've got, but IMO, that doesn't say much. I wouldn't go all in to get one of the top three QBs, but if Ballard saw something in a QB worth taking in the first or second round, I hope he goes for it.

We are well positioned to take a high end development QB - a 2nd or 3rd rounder, possibly even a late 1st rounder. Brissett is under contract for one more year, and Hoyer can be cut after this season with minimal cap impact (unfortunately, this decision needs to be made in March, a month before the draft). Tua maybe?

Tua is the guy to drop according to all the buzz now. I just don’t see it happening draft day. If you think he is a franchise QB and he just needs a redshirt year. Some team will be ok with that and take him.

He had a bad game, but still threw 4 TDs
I'm watching him now, Colorado is destroying him. But I think his line has fallen apart, having major protection problems.
He recovered some in the second half, but they just couldn’t protect him. UWs line is supposed to be pretty good.
