Regarding irrelevant postseason games, Pete Rozelle used to have teams that LOST playoff games play each other for 3rd place in a consolation game the following week for 10 straight seasons between 1960 and 1969 ........ no joke.

No, but the players on both teams did get a modest amount of money (a winner's share, and a loser's share.)


As much as Vince Lombardi complained about that game and insulted it, saying that it was a "Loser's" Bowl, he (as the Packers' head coach AND General Manager) didn't have the balls to simply tell Rozelle to stick it, and assert that his team wasn't going to play.
