Irsay has stated both Reich and Ballard are safe (for now).

Colts owner Jim Irsay clarified, rather emphatically, that he is giving no thought to firing Frank Reich as head coach or Chris Ballard as GM.

"I'm in a great spot with Chris and Frank. We're all re-energized with the move to Sam Ehlinger. Nothing is easy but I feel really good."

Irsay just wants to get a franchise QB. He made the decision to sacrifice this season to put Ballard in position to get the right QB, why would he fire his coach or GM for that?

How long do you think they need too achieve that QB? I'm curious cause other teams have done rebuilding and gotten better faster than what Colts are playing.

I really only see a couple decent QB's in 2023 draft.

Irsay hasn't sacrifice this season, he wants to win now. I still say if Sam isn't a savior for this team. Irsay could still send Frank and Ballard both off at end of season.

Not saying you're wrong, but which teams are you talking about that reloaded at quarterback quickly? Seems to me that most teams don't find a QB quickly. Even teams with top draft picks fail at QB more often than they succeed.

Also, it's not as if the team ignored QB all these years. They probably did (about) the best they could given the limited options.

Ballard deserves some criticism for gifting Matt Pryor the LT position. I don't think we can blame the long COVID/depression of Kelly on the coaching staff or GM. IMO replace him with Pinter and run out his contract. Q is the one they need to get right. Maybe he has long COVID too? The rest? Overblown non-issues.

Teams go decades without getting a franchise QB. The Bears haven't had one since the 1950s. The Texans haven't had one ever. It's the most important and most difficult to fill position in sports. Teams that have had a quick rebuild were able to do so because they found an answer at the QB position. Once you have the QB, everything else falls into place.

I saw it in Denver. He sabotaged that team. He is not honest and straightforward. Talks out of both sides of his mouth. The players don’t trust him. Might be good with schemes but not with people.

In bold. I'm not saying any team has.

That's what I'm asking, how long do they need to find that QB? The band-aid approach isn't working. Instead of taking the for sure Buckner trade, when we needed a QB. Why didn't Ballard make a deal to move up in the draft for QB?

Teams are winning with mediocre QB's but as a whole team rebuild others been better than us. We have one of the highest paid OL in league and they are horrible.
Ballard is putting too much money in the wrong positions.

$20 million in a G when we haven't filled a LT after Castanzo. No way do I want Ballard picking our next young QB or coach. I do not trust him.

Texans had Watson has franchised QB. They just wasn't expecting the baggage he would bring afterwards.

Kinda looks that way. Irsay is known for waiting till end of seasons before firing people.

So the OC gets fired today. Guess I was wrong there.

Though since the OL coach has kept his job, I'm just way more perplexed.
