To show how poorly we have played if we keep giving up the yards we have given up in the first 2 games (won't happen) we will give up 8746 yards (514 a game) this year. Incredibly the 2012 Saints gave up 7042 (440 a game) so maybe i shouldn't be so quick to say it couldn't happen.

With sweety Lou with the headset on, dude it is possible we could give up that 8K before the 5th game- which is sad, because the girls STILL wouldn't fire him after giving up 8K yards in 5 games.

This franchise is doomed so long as all these idiots continue to soil the payroll.

Defense stepped up big.

I saw that the Texans had 7 net yards on their first three series combined.

It will have to do that all season for us to have a chance in most games.

I would like to give my rat's ass of an opinion in regard to 3 key moments in the game, especially the last 2.

1) l After holding the Chiefs to a FG on their opening possession, the Colts had a 7-3 lead and possession of the ball ...... until they immediately turned the ball over deep in their own territory, after which Patrick Mahomes and company quickly punched the ball into the end-zone for a 10-7 lead.

OK, turnovers happen, and the defense has to deal with that reality ...... but a turnover deep in your own territory right after salvaging holding the opponent to a field goal at that point in the game is an early punch-in-the-mouth.

2) l Late in the 4th quarter, Patrick Mahomes and his offense had the ball right after the Colts scored a game-tying TD, knotting the score of 27-27. Patrick Mahomes and his offense got a 1st down and were near midfield, and it looked like the Colts were finished ...... all the Chiefs had to do was get another 1st down and a few extra yards to get into what would be a game-winning FG attempt from their kicker in Harrison Butker, who is capable of knocking them down from 65 yards ...... but the defense forced a punt, putting the Colts in prime position to win the game.

With possession of the ball in a tie game with the clock winding down to under a minute left to play in the 4th quarter, it looked like the Colts were in control and ready to kick a walk-off FG from Spencer Shrader ...... but the Colts came up one 1st down and about 7 or 8 yards short of giving Shrader a chance to win it, and had to punt the ball away, resulting in overtime.

3) l In overtime, the Colts deferred and elected to give the ball to Patrick Mahomes and his offensive gang. The Colts' defense bent but did not brake, and held Mahomes and company to a FG attempt, of which Harrison Butker knocked through the uprights.

If your team is playing against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs and your defense holds them to a FG on the opening possession of overtime, I'll take that situation 10 times out of 10 ...... the Colts gambled by giving the Chiefs the ball 1st with the possibility of giving Mahomes 2 possessions (which is just how things worked after the 2 teams exchanged FG's) ...... and the gamble initially paid off, because the Colts' defense at least kept Mahomes and company out of the end-zone, which put the Colts in position to win the game with a TD with plenty of time still left on the overtime clock.

The Colts immediately burned the Chiefs with a 48-yard bomb to Laquon Treadwell, setting them up at the Chiefs' 16 yard-line ...... the Colts were in prime position to win the game at this point ...... but for reasons only known to himself, head coach Shane Steichen decided to call plays as if the game were tied and the Colts only needed a chip-shot FG to win ...... predictably, the Chiefs easily stopped Jonathan Taylor on 2 extremely conservative run-calls on both 1st and 2nd down, and the Colts had to settle for a FG, blowing yet another golden opportunity to beat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs on their homefield in western Missouri.

******************************************

So in conclusion, the Colts' defense gave up about 55 million yards of total offense to the Chiefs ...... but I wanted to point out those 3 nuances, 2 of which they did a more than reasonably good job of putting their team in position to win the game.

All things considered, going up against one of the greatest quarterbacks off all-time on his homefield in western Missouri, I don't think that the Colts' defense did all that badly in this game.

The Colts' defense gave up 523 yards of offense to the Chiefs ...... but 101 of those yards came in overtime, when the Chiefs had not 1 but 2 possessions ...... and the Chiefs were held to a field goal on their first, crucial possession of overtime, putting the Colts' offense in prime position to win the game (of which they failed to do so.)

The game easily could have ended with a Colts win in regulation, when the Colts' defense forced Mahomes and company to punt the ball with a little over 3 minutes to play, and the game tied ...... but the Colts' offense failed in this situation as well when Daniel Jones missed a wide open Tyler Warren in the flat, which would have put the Colts in Spencer Shrader's range for a potential game-winning, walk-off field goal.

Jayden Daniels Feeling Confident, Despite Elbow Injury ...... ‘I Can Get Through It Again’

(By Tashan Reed)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...-elbow-injury/

WATFORD, England — When Jayden Daniels realized that he’d dislocated his left elbow ...... again ...... the Washington Commanders quarterback could only feel frustration. After a rough game to open the NFL season, he was in the midst of a resurgent performance in the first half against the Dallas Cowboys.

Just as Daniels started to feel comfortable coming off of an injury-riddled sophomore season, he’d be sidelined once more.

“I felt like I was getting my groove and rhythm and everything, and then that happened,” he said on Thursday.

Once Daniels processed his irritation, his focus shifted to how he’d come back.

“From there, it was really just, ‘I got through this once,’” Daniels said ...... “‘I can get through it again.’”

Just 10 days after Daniels got hurt on September 20th, he returned to practice as a limited participant on Wednesday. On Thursday, he practiced again. The portion of practice in which the media are allowed to watch doesn’t include team drills, so his involvement was unclear ...... but the Commanders are leaving the door open for him to play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in London.

“It feels good,” Daniels said of his elbow. “I’m just taking it day-by-day.”

Asked whether he expects to play on Sunday, Daniels repeated the “day-by-day” mantra. Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Coach Dan Quinn said that whether Daniels plays will depend on the functionality and strength of his left arm (his non-throwing arm.)

This is the second time in which Daniels has suffered a dislocated left elbow. The first time, which came last November, forced him to miss a month. After Daniels wore a brace when he returned last year, he’s now wearing a much bulkier brace that doesn’t allow him to fully extend his left arm.

“It’s going to be an adjustment period,” Daniels said, “but it just feels good to go back out there and really just play football again.”

Daniels didn’t suffer any fractures or significant ligament damage in his left arm ...... he decided to forgo surgery after meeting with specialists last week.

“I love football,” Daniels said. “I get paid to play football. Everybody’s hurting. Something’s wrong with everybody on this team. For me, it’s just about being a leader and about being a guy to just go out there and give it my shot to play. Obviously, I’ll protect myself and stuff like that ...... but I just love football, and I have a passion for it.”

Daniels said that he’s not worried about dislocating his left elbow for a 3rd time, but he didn’t rule out surgery in the off-season.

“I've got to wait until after the season, and see what the doctors say and everything,” Daniels said. “I’ll make the decision that’s best for me.”

If Daniels doesn’t make enough progress to play, Washington will start quarterback Marcus Mariota for the second straight game. Mariota led the Commanders to a win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Asked about not knowing which quarterback he’s game-planning around, offensive coordinator David Blough responded ...... “The sooner, in our profession, is certainly better. But we are certainly here in these roles to adapt and be versatile, and be fluid. That’s our job ...... to be able to have the contingencies.”

Blough noted that the similarities in Daniels’s and Mariota’s skill sets ...... they’re both mobile quarterbacks who have the arm talent to push the ball downfield ...... make that process easier.

“We’re very fortunate to have a backup who kind of mirrors the skill set of the starter,” Blough said ...... “It’s fairly similar.”

Rachaad White Doesn't Practice

Running back Rachaad White missed his second straight practice because of a shoulder injury. ...... that makes it doubtful that he’ll play on Sunday.

The other running backs on the active roster are Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Kaytron Allen, and Austin Ekeler ...... Ekeler signed with the team this week. Running back Robert Henry Jr. could get called up from the practice squad if White doesn’t play.
