Yeah, the funny thing is ESPN is reporting on Harrison like they knew he'd be back and healthy the whole time.

I'm going out on a limb and saying an SEC team is going to win it all this year--likely the winner of LSU/Florida.

Just got back from the Saturday morning practice in Terre Haute. I noticed a couple of things of concern and some real positives.
General Notes - Many of the first teamers did not practice. Brackett, Mathis, Diem, Saturday, Rhodes, & Addai were out there but not participating. It just looked like they had the practice off and were not hurt in any way. Marvin was not out there today but I would suspect that is part of the plan they have for him in camp. Sorgi is clearly ahead of Gray & Lorenzen. Granted that is very clearly is due to him being in the offense for much longer, but there was a obvious drop off between him & the new guys. Also, many fumbled snaps but again to be expected with the new QB's and a new center. Qualifier - I say the things below with a very novice eye for talent and what makes a good football player. Just my observations. Positives * Simpson looked like he had a real burst out of the backfield * Roy Hall looked good in the few passes thrown to him. His size is impressive. * Eric Foster got continual praise from the coaches in the offense v. defense drills. He blew up many running plays. Granted it was against new o-linemen, but he was noticeable. * Marcus Howard looks blindingly fast off the corner. Again against a new tackle but his speed was evident. Concerns * Phillip Wheeler was in the first part of drills and then sat out the remaining practice with a big bandage over his left knee. * Session was not out there at all. May be nothing at all but found it curious with all the other vets who did not practice but were out on the field. |

Session practiced with the first team yesterday. Sounds like many of the first team guys had practice off. Are the Colts doing two-a-days?

Big 10 leads 91-86-6 all time in head to head bowl games vs the SEC, and I am pretty sure the Big 10 is 9-8 vs the SEC the last 5 years. Over the last nine years of Bowl Championship Series games, the Big Ten leads all conferences with 15 berths while ranking second with eight victories. The SEC tops all leagues with nine wins and ranks second to the Big Ten with 13 appearances. In the last 10 years the Big Ten has produced two national champions compared to three for the SEC. In the last 15 years the Big Ten has produced five Heisman Trophy winners, more than any other conference. Over that same time span, the SEC has claimed one Heisman. ![]() |

If I remember right, I think Big 10 was ranked as the 5th strongest conference last year. That's good. the Big 10 should be really excited about that - I think they barely beat out Conference USA. |

Things change. The SEC is good. Over all the past 2-3 years they probably have been better than the big ten. The Buckeyes are in a rare position that they have 19 starters returning for next year. Anytime a top 5 team can return that many starters, they should be considered a strong candidate to be at or near the top the next year. Each of the SEC teams that are contending have major questions that the Buckeyes just dont have. I'm not betting the house, on it, but I like the Buckeyes chances this year. In regards to the Colts..... I am equally optimistic that they also have the team this year to take it to and win the SB. This is the deepest team by far that we have fielded. Barring injury.... We should be right there for the crown ! |
