The thing about Unitas, is that he basically invented the way the modern game is played. Just watch the '58 championship game and you see a fairly modern offense with Johnny U calling plays at the LOS and throwing the entire route tree.
So based on stats and championships is he the best ever, probably not. But, if you base your opinion on the most influential/innovative QB of all time, then I think he is definitely in the top 3, with Marino and Peyton also being in the conversation, but for different reasons.
