Interesting to note on the couple other guys, Ricky Wagner and Jahleel Addae, here's what their local bloggers have to say about them, very different opinions:

Baltimore Ravens franchise player Joe Flacco does many parts of his job description as a quarterback well. Making plays when pressured in the pocket is not one of them.

Throughout his career, most notably during the Ravens championship run in 2012, Flacco played at an elite level when given ample time in the pocket. In the 2012 playoffs, Joe was sacked six times over four games, and responded by tossing eleven touchdowns compared to zero interceptions.

This trend held true in 2014, when Flacco posted the best statistical season of his career, and was sacked only 19 times in sixteen regular season games. For comparison, the Ravens allowed 37 sacks per season on average in Flacco’s six seasons before 2014. In Week 13 of the 2016 season, the Ravens held Miami without a sack, and Flacco produced his best game of the year with 381 yards and four touchdowns.

Flacco has developed a reputation as one of the worst quarterbacks in the league when pressured. Furthermore, his accuracy is not consistent enough to win many games when he is forced to throw 50 plus passing attempts. He does much better, especially on deep throws, when a competent running game can provide balance to the offense and make the defense respect play action fakes.

For these reasons, resigning right tackle Ricky Wagner should be the Ravens top priority in the coming offseason.

Wagner is a notch below the best right tackles in the league, but he is definitely above average at the position. According to Ken McKusick of Russell Street Report, Wagner has earned a B grade or above in ten of the 13 games he evaluated this season. Wagner has proven himself to be durable as well, only missing one game to injury in 2016, and two total regular season games over the last three seasons combined.

Equally adept at run and pass blocking, Wagner would create a formidable bookend offensive tackle pairing with Ronnie Stanley if the Ravens are able to resign him. With Wagner in the fold along with Stanley, who displayed his elite blocking ability over the final quarter of his rookie season, the Ravens would have the makings of a strong offensive line. Marshal Yanda and Alex Lewis could thrive as the starting offensive guards, leaving only center as a position in need of an upgrade.

Without resigning Wagner, the Ravens will have two positional needs on the offensive line. They would be forced to spend more free agency and draft resources on the line, instead of having more flexibility to bolster their pass defense personnel. With Wagner, they are only one piece away from creating a top offensive line, and the center position could be adequately upgraded on Day 2 of the 2017 NFL draft.

What will it cost to resign Wagner?

It is difficult to pinpoint Wagner’s contract demands right now. There are not very many above average offensive lineman up for free agency this year, and many teams will have more cap space than they know what to do with. This situation could cause Wagner to be overpaid based on simple supply and demand.

Last offseason, the Chiefs signed Mitchell Schwartz away from the Browns. Schwartz is a comparable right tackle to Wagner, he may even be a slightly better player. The terms of his contract were $33 million over five years, with $15 million guaranteed. Wagner would be well worth $6.5 million per season to the Ravens, since offensive line play is so vital to their offensive success.

Conclusion

Brandon Williams is a higher profile free agent and arguably better player than Wagner. But the Ravens have some intriguing depth and early draft picks waiting in the wings at defensive tackle. Offensive tackle, on the other hand, has been a problem spot for the franchise going all the way back to their first Super Bowl championship at the turn of the century.

At 27 years old, Wagner should have several seasons left before his body shows signs of decline. Locking up two young tackles long term, along with the guards, would allow the offensive line to grow together and help the offense realize their full potential.

By prioritizing Wagner and consummating a long term contract, the Ravens can devote their remaining assets to other pressing needs, and have a much better chance at earning a playoff berth in 2017. Without Wagner, they will likely be treading water next season, filling one roster hole while ignoring or creating another.

After all of the investment made in Joe Flacco, it would be immensely short sighted to allow Ricky Wagner to leave the Ravens this offseason.

It would be one thing if Jahleel Addae was a reasonably physical safety with a penchant for hard, legal hits more akin to Kam Chancellor. It would be another if Addae could stay healthy despite his shortcomings. It would be another thing if Addae possessed the kind of closing down speed that would make up for his other weaknesses.

Oh yeah, his speed.

Not great. Not godawful, but not great.

Jahleel Addae is a perfectly cromulent football player except one or two significant reoccurring flaws and a tendency to get hurt. He might revel in the questionable reputation he has earned, but by and large he has cultivated an acceptable image (one which the team presents). He is not Manti Te’o.

However, the drawbacks to keeping Addae are evident. Those mistakes, those tendencies, continue to repeat themselves year after year. The fact that the team is married to Dwight Lowery’s contract for at least another season makes the prospect of fielding an exceedingly below-average backfield pair nigh unacceptable.

Plus, there’s the opportunity cost of being unable to add a new piece to our defense at the safety position to possibly put it over the top (and give Gus Bradley no excuses). It’s clear what the team is getting with Addae, what his ceiling is and how his desperate versatility masks a lack of expertise in any particularly important tenant of being a starting safety in the NFL.

Finally, with Melvin Ingram’s impending free agency and a whole host of other positions and players in dire need of upgrade that could/would impact the team’s ability to function at a high level, I’d argue that retaining a talent like Addae’s isn’t necessarily a high priority.

Thus, the tragedy of Jahleel Addae: All the heart in the world, but clearly a dude who cannot be relied upon to play defensive football effectively at a consistently high enough (healthy) level above replacement to warrant a new contract.

I'm fully sold on Ricky Wagner now. Sign him up and hand him the starting RT job. Done like dinner.

Jahleel Addae, I'm fully sold would be an improvement over the status quo. Sorry, but he would be. Low hurdle to clear, but he clears it. Is he worth the money? Meh, but if we're signing big money pass rushers like Parry and/or Ingram, then we might need to overpay some to make sure our investment doesn't go entirely for naught.

I included guys here older than 30 (but not 35) because O-Linemen can often be effective past 30 whereas many defensive players start losing a step after 30.

Really only one clear cut option in Wagner with, perhaps, some interest in Watson but, honestly, I would rather roll with Clark or Haeg. Although Watson is a former 2nd round draft pick (#42 overall in 2013) he missed all of 2015 due to injury and Haeg has nearly as many games starting in one season in the NFL as Watson has during 3 seasons.

For as thin as the OT free agency class is, the OG class is pretty stacked. 8 full times starters (around 800+ snaps in a season) plus a lot of guys who were, perhaps, not full time starters but played a good number of snaps and performed well.

If we bring in an O-Line body, it needs to be at the top of our talent depth chart and not just another body because we have a good pick of good guys....not great guys.

If we go O-Line in free agency, I would bet it would be for right OG and then letting Reitz, Clark, Good and Haeg battle it out for starting RT duties with the other three being the primary backups along with Blythe.

i agree with shrek. if we go oline in free agency then i say we go guard. clark, haeg and good can all play rt. one of them has to be good enough right?

I'd love to grab 2 aggressive hammers like Ingram and Swearinger

Larry Warford is the guy I would most like the Colts to grab in terms of improving the offensive line. He is young at 26 but has 4 years of starting experience having started every game he has played in missing 7 games in 4 years. He is a good run blocker and lining him up next to Ryan Kelly and Mewhort could make for some big holes up the middle.

Obviously we need to bring in at least two LB's via free agency and another two via the draft, and this has to be the priority, but I can see that Warford is a potential big time player who could make a big difference for the Colts. I am less convinced with the LBers available in free agency this year and think we are only going to get marginal upgrades rather than star performers in free agency.
