Grading Brissett Week 11

Overall, not much to evaluate for Brissett against Jacksonville with the high run rate. He did have one rough miss to Pascal, but otherwise it was an all around solid performance I would grade as a B+.

I spend this week focusing on a few key areas:

1) Brissett’s ability to deal with the blitz. Some of the concern is fair, but some of it is a scheme/route adjustment issue. I call out a few of that latter category this week.

2) Lack of deep shots. Brissett had two absolute dimes to Pascal with only an INT to show for it last week. I’d like to see him take some more of those chances against single high looks.

3) Going through his progressions. Sometimes the play just breaks down. This happened a handful of times against Jacksonville where a pick/rub simply didn’t work and it cost the Colts. That tends to reflect on Brissett, but it’s something to watch for especially this week after all the success the Colts has on crossing routes last game against HOU.

And as a special add-on, I called out what a great game Kelly had. If not for Nelson, Kelly would have gotten a lot more attention for his game against the Jags.
