Default The Colts QB in 2021 is?...

I’m a little surprised we haven’t started a thread on this yet. But who is our starting QB next year? Rivers and Brisset both have their contracts ending. Only Eason will be under contract. You have a ton of rumors out there and possible QBs that will be available. Veterans. Young guys that didn’t work out at their current home. Possible draft picks, a trade up in the draft?

Some names being thrown around:
Dak Prescott
Mathew Stafford
Matt Ryan
Brisset again
Sam Darnold
Carson Wentz
Rivers again
Eason emerges
Aaron Rodgers?

Draft QBs
Trevor Lawrence
Justin Fields
Trey Lance
Zach Wilson
Kyle Trask
Kellen Mond
Jamie Newman
Mac Jones
Zach Wilson

I think it will be Rivers. I also think they will bring in a vet back up on a 1 yr deal which IMO will be JB (on a much smaller contract) and Eason. I don't think the vet backup will be signed until after the draft, but I think Rivers gets extended

I want Jamie Newman if we get a chance to draft him

It will most likely be Rivers, although I give it about a 50/50 shot.

Wentz is the dark horse candidate, given his history with Reich.

I suspect Rivers, he's getting better with more time on the team, getting used to playing with this WR corps. I think Eason will be fine, too.

To me Eason is just an unknown quantity. Nothing good or bad, just no information on him. So I can’t say he is the future at all besides being a cheap backup.

My guess is Rivers and we will be pissed not to have a young guy in the wings.

I think Stafford would be a good bridge that would allow Ballard to identify a guy he likes with little pressure to do so while also allowing this team to maximize its current window with the talent currently on the roster.

I would be ok with the Colts bringing in Carson Wentz for the right price. I doubt they will draft a QB. Their first round pick has to go for a left tackle.
