Agree COVID screwed Eason out of time, but we have to credit Philip Rivers with that as well.

Maybe we should have tried to develop Eason last year at the beginning of the year, Maybe we .... Matt Stafford.... SQUIRREL!

Ehh, it’s Eason’s job to get on the field. I’m sure they are working with him as much as possible. But he was a project when they drafted him. Covid definetly hurt his preseason snaps. I would say he should have stayed in school, but covid almost cancelled the pac 12 season. I guess he still would have gotten more work there.

Two things Reich always talks about concerning QBs is mental processing and accuracy. Those are the two most important traits to him that a QB should have.

Also the league is trending towards mobile QBs. Guys that can extend the play and create when the play breaks down. Russel Wilson, Allen, Mahomes. Not a guy that’s going to run for a TD. But a guy that can avoid the rush for a few seconds and find a receiver.

I believe Allen is a little bit different from Russell and Mahomes. They mainly avoid the rush to find a receiver, Allen does that but also runs as part of the offensive plan. I really think he's more like Cam Newton and may suffer the same fate. A brilliant career cut short by taking too many big shots.

Zak Keefer on latest "One Percent Better" podcast said he spoke to someone close to Jacob Eason, and he's committing himself hard to have a shot to battle for the starting spot this fall. Says to not overlook Eason, that he is very much a part of this equation.

If true I'm glad he has a good mental outlook. Seriously doubt he is the answer but who the hell knows

If he survives his younger years, he will settle into a player like those guys. Elway might be a good comparison. Luck thought he was invincible at times. You takes hits the league will chew you up and spit you out.

Besides having a shitty OL, Luck had two big problems.

1. He would tell the defensive lineman that just pummeled him, "Nice Hit!" I'm sure he meant it, but nothing would ensure that they hit you even harder next time like those words.

2. He never really ever learned to slide very well, if at all. If I were the coach I would have told him to lose the congrats talk after being hit, and in his first off season, I would have hired a seasoned baseball coach to teach him the art of sliding.

Perhaps Tom Arth or Curtis Painter are available and doing nothing?

Too bad Eason is a slow burn but maybe time to also throw him into the deep end if we cannot land a seasoned vet that is semi worth a crap? That said, I really do not want to fall back on the overpriced "Brisket". Just my humble opion.
