Default Carson Wentz feels “new passion for the game

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-indianapolis/

Carson Wentz‘s struggles with the Eagles during the 2020 season have been well documented and this offseason has been about trying to turn the page to a brighter future.

Wentz was traded to the Colts to kick off the offseason and he’s spent the last few months getting used to life with his new team. During a recent visit to Fargo, North Dakota for work with his foundation, Wentz spoke to Beth Hoole of ValleyNewsLive.com and said that he thinks Indianapolis is “definitely a special place” that has rejuvenated him after a rough year in Philadelphia.

“I really feel like I have a new passion for the game,” Wentz said, via Jonathan X. Simmons of the Indianapolis Star. “I’ve been high, I’ve been injured, I’ve been, now, benched, I’ve been traded, I’ve kinda seen a lot in five years, so whatever the game throws at me I’m ready.”

The Colts are betting that Wentz is both ready for whatever’s thrown his way and able to handle it better than he did last season. The success of that bet and the success of their season will go hand in hand.

Carson Wentz working out with teammates in Texas
Posted by Charean Williams on July 6, 2021, 6:40 PM EDT

USA TODAY Sports
Colts quarterback Carson Wentz makes his offseason home in Texas, so he invited some of his new teammates to work with him there before training camp.

Receiver Mike Strachan posted photos on Instagram.

Backup quarterback Jacob Eason, receivers Michael Pittman Jr., Dezmon Patmon, Parris Campbell and Zach Pascal and tight ends Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson were spotted in photos along with Wentz and Strachan, via Charlie Clifford of WISH.

A year ago, Wentz had the Eagles’ skill position players working with him at the same high school field in the Houston area.

The Eagles traded Wentz to the Colts this offseason, and the quarterback recently said he feels “a new passion for the game” in Indianapolis.

All positive signs, now lets do it in real games. Looking forward to seeing how this team develops.

I've noticed that a lot of good QBs take a big step forward in their 5th year. Wentz has had some bumps along the way though, continuity over those 5 years helps. So here's hoping its a 6th year bump for him.

(vs. 49ers, 10/24)

Wentz made 2 really bad decisions tonight, one of which he paid for with an INT, and one in which he was fortunate that the 49ers defender dropped the ball that was right in his hands ...... but overall, I thought that he showed lots of ability, improvisation, grit, and determination.

I think that we ought to forget about him not playing in games and/or taking fewer snaps because of the draft pick ...... as far as I'm concerned, we're all in with him, for better or for worse.

I bet Philly is an exhausting place to play for.

I say the second one was a bad decision. But the first one was because it slipped out of his hands. You can say that was a bad decision to try, but Pascal was wide open.

I've heard horror stories about that fanbase...some of their fans are nothing short of criminals!

At one time, I think back in the '90s, they actually held court in the stadium, complete with a judge, to convict some of their idiotic fan base. They've since stopped that practice but it shows how brutal they can be.
