Done Deal: Colts Trade for Wentz
Rcubed mentioned it in the other thread, but this deserves a new thread.
Philadelphia has agreed to trade Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first, league sources tell @mortreport and me If Carson Wentz’s playtime is at or above 75% next season, the conditional 2022 second-round pick would become a first-round pick, per sources. The second-round pick also.could become a first if Wentz plays at least 70 percent of the plays and the Colts go to the playoffs. |

Will it turn into a 7th if he gets hurt in route to Indy?
At least I would think he's coming in with some to prove. |

I’m not sold on it. He was so mentally jerked around in Philly that he might not be fixable

Schefter has confirmed:
https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/sta...42800344752141 Wow - really surprised they paid this much for Wentz given the circumstances. Shows you how much I know. They must REALLY think that his problems were with Philly and not personal. Given the Ballard/Reich track record on talent evaluation (not perfect, but pretty damn good) I'm pretty excited about this. |

Glad to see the deal got done. Feel much better than when the Colts gave Rivers a $25 million "golden parachute."

The other thing to remember is that if this works out, and assuming the trade does not also involve some sort of renegotiation of Wentz's contract (probably not), the Colts have Wentz locked up for the next 4 years at a very affordable QB price (about $25M a year).

I'm good with that...sure beats 2 firsts. I think with the team we have around him Ballard and Reich weren't ready to wait for a long term draft pick.

I dont love the condition. I would rather have had it been 3+2 and not turn into a 1. Seems likely that the condition will be met. Lets say we have a similar year as this year, do pretty well, make playoffs and get bounced first round. bye bye 1st round pick.
oh well, overall its not bad so lets hope that reich can get him back to mvp(ish) form |
