Stats are almost the same. A few more catches and yards. Point is; he still had a good game. They didn't shut him down. Thats not what I call 'tempers'. Thats when you keep a guy out of the endzone and keep him from impacting a game.

The Penn State game was almost all defense for both teams, and Harrison was far-and-away the biggest factor in that game ...... that was not the case in the Michigan game. I saw both games, and Harrison was clearly more dominant in the otherwise defensive-fueled Penn State game.

Holding Harrison to 5 catches and winning the game in which a total of 54 points were scored is similar to holding a prime Kareem-Abdul Jabbar to 25 points (instead of his his usual 35 points), and winning the game ...... something that Dave Cowens had a knack for doing when he played for the Celtics, even though he was only 6' 9" to Abdul-Jabbar's 7' 3".

There was no stopping Abdul-Jabbar in his prime, the best that you could do was to contain him ...... and the same is true of Marvin Harrison, Jr.

They probably should have used the term "contains" instead of "tempers."

I watched both games too. Just because he had a greater impact in the Penn St game doesn't mean they shut him down against Michigan. A guy that has 100 yards and a TD isn't shut down. He had a bunch of impact plays in that game. If anything if they hadn't affected the QB he would have had even more. The QB was the weak point.

And stop resurrecting every old thread, you get kicked off most forums for doing something like that. You have something recent to say start a new one.

They did. 5 catches (albeit for 118 yards) in a 30-24 game is doing a reasonably good job of containing Marvin Harrison, particularly when you win (which Michigan did.) Harrison is universally regarded as the best player in college football, and he may be the #1 overall draft pick next year. If he had had the game against Michigan that he did against Penn State, Ohio State most surely would have won. He didn't, and they lost.

Compared to an average player, Harrison had a really good game yesterday ...... by the standards of which Marvin Harrison Jr is judged by, he had a pretty good game yesterday, which, as I stated earlier, is all you can hope to do against such a great player.

Also, his average catches per-game is not as accurate of a barometer as are his individual games. He had 11 catches for 162 yards against Penn State, he had 8 catches for 163 yards against Maryland, and 7 catches for 149 yards against Michigan State. ...... on the other hand, he only had 3 catches for 30 yards against Minnesota, 4 catches 25 yards against Rutgers, and 2 catches 18 yards against Indiana. When being judged by NFL teams wanting to draft him, they aren't going to be looking at his aggregate average-per-game numbers, but rather the individual games in which he played in, at least 3 of which were monstrous.

He had a lot closer to a monster game than a bad game. Michigan didn’t win bc they contained MHj. They won because they contained everyone else. He did just fine. Christ, never seen someone defend an inaccurate headline do much. Indiana contained him, Michigan didn’t.
