Vividly remember that game.
Back then, I'm sure NFL teams could purchase jerseys from whoever they wanted. But, Ole' Man Irsay was probably more pissed that Joe Washington went through 3 of his paper mache jerseys, than he was excited about the win. Of course Joe Washington went on to much more prolific career with the Washington Football Team. |

I have a copy of that game on dvd. Probably the best game Bill Troup played as a colt. A couple things I always found surprising about Washington, he rushed for more yards as a colt than any other team he played for yet he never broke 1,000 yards and didn’t score a rushing touchdown until his second season as a colt in 1979 when he tallied two against the Patriots during Bert Jones’s brief healthy stint that year. Man, time flies.
