Default Sean Dawkins Died

o

Sean Dawkins, a wide receiver who played the first 5 seasons of his 9-year NFL career for the Colts, died yesterday.

Dawkins was a 1st-round draft pick of the Colts in 1993. He was a 1st-team All-American with the University of California in his senior season in 1992. When Dawkins was a rookie with the Colts in 1993, he set a career-high with 144 yards receiving in a game against the defending world champion Dallas Cowboys. Part of his 5-year stint with the Colts included back-to-back playoff appearances in 1995 and 1996, punctuated by the team's thrilling run all the way to the historic 1995 AFC Championship game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After his 5th and final season with the Colts, Dawkins played 4 more seasons in the NFL for the Saints, the Seahawks, and the Jaguars. For his entire NFL career, Dawkins caught 445 passes for 6,291 yards and 5 TD receptions.

Dawkins was 52 years-old.

52 is too damn young for meeting your maker and to a pro athlete for many years, one can only assume he took care of his body. Curious indeed to hear what he died of.

He had a 144 yards receiving game against the cowboy not a reception for that amount which isn't possible.
