Default Colts open 2022 season on road for first two weeks before home opener against Kansas

https://www.indystar.com/story/sport...19/9751863002/

INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts are going to have to wait as long as any NFL team to make their debut at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2022.

Indianapolis is hosting the Kansas City Chiefs at 1 p.m. on Sept. 25 in its home opener, a date that means the Colts will spend the first two weeks of the season on the road, one year after opening the schedule with two consecutive games at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Colts open the season on the road in Houston at 1 p.m. on Sept. 11, trying to break the league’s longest active losing streak in season openers.

Indianapolis has lost eight straight season-opening games, a streak that ties the worst mark in franchise history — the Colts lost their first eight consecutive season openers after making the move from Baltimore to Indianapolis — and is the third longest in NFL history.

Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at Lucas Oil Stadium and Indianapolis. The Seahawks defeated the Colts, 28-16.
Only Cleveland — which lost 13 straight season openers from 2005-17 — and Philadelphia — nine straight from 1968-76 — have gone longer without winning the opening game.

This time, the Colts appear to have their best chance at ending their season-opening futility in a long, long time. Houston is still in the early stage of a deep rebuilding project, and Indianapolis bludgeoned the Texans in both meetings last season, hammering Houston 31-3 at home and then shutting out the Texans 31-0 in a game the Colts had to have.

Indianapolis also beat Kansas City in their last meeting, handing star quarterback Patrick Mahomes a surprising 19-13 upset early in the 2019 season.

All 32 NFL teams announced their home openers at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the full schedule will be released at 8 p.m.

The Colts will also play AFC South foes Houston, Tennessee and Jacksonville at home, as well as the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Their road foes include the AFC South teams, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, the New York Giants, New England and Minnesota.

You'll need Amazon Prime to see the Colts/Broncos game, or any Thursday Night Football game this season.

When I joined Amazon prime it was $70/year. I cancelled when it hit $119/year. I see that it's now risen to $140/year. That's ridiculous.

Streams are free, so I'll keep on paying $0.

Already have....and it is a great deal! I wasn't sure it would be available on there since Amazon is touting that there is no other way to watch Thursday Night Football but on Prime. Looks like Amazon lied again!

I think in general it's true, but the NFL has an exception carved out for home markets to carry the game on a local channel.

Also, I'm guessing International League Pass has the option to have all those games that normally would have US blackout restrictions, so if the tv service has access to International League Pass it can bypass that.

I'm still on this hill but IDGAF, maybe I'm being petty. Why does Irsay not bitch more about this Thursday night game?

In the last 16 years Indy has played this game on the road 12 times. 9 (75%) of those matchups were divisional matchups. They've played 4 of these at home, as far as I can see. Only one of those have been within the division. I didn't count the opener against NO from the late 2000's.

I get the draw for the game may be watching Indy on the road, but I'm tired of that fucking game already.
