Default Dontari Poe to Colts?

I must have missed this or just forgotten but it seems that Ballard offered Poe a multi year contract last year and he passed and bet on himself in a 1 year deal at Atlanta....he's back in the market and colts are a potential suitor at a more reduced price I expect.....Any interest, Freaks?

Poe would be an interesting rotational piece. I'd see him as a run down UT/pass down NT, and he could likely do well in that role. It would also open up possibilities for pass rush sub packages along the DL. I think I might rather have Sheldon Richardson, but a starting DT unit of Poe and Hankins would be the Colts best at that position since they had Siragusa and Ellis Johnson.

I forgot Ballard offered him a contract.

I am fine with our DTs. But I am also fine w/bringing him in, we have lots of cap space, there aren't that many impact FAs this year, and Poe would only strengthen the DT rotation. Having Hankins and Poe at DT sounds like something you do on Madden, kind of ridiculous. And despite everyone (not here) saying Anderson doesn't fit a 4-3, I think him as a 3rd DT would make for one of the best DT crews in the NFL.

The fact that Poe's current team in Atlanta seems so anxious to be rid of him does give me some pause.

Quote:
While much of the conversation about free agency is purely speculative at this point, Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff has already made it publicly clear that Poe will not remain in Atlanta moving forward.

He will be going to the market. I’m confident he’s going to sign a deal somewhere and be happy.

Does he have some locker room/off the field concerns?

Seems like he took a prove it deal and he proved himself. Now he wants that money, which the falcons don't have.

I hadn’t read it that way but that makes sense.

Sure, but it does not seem like interior DL is very high up on the list of issues the Colts have.

Also, wouldn't wanna give him much more than Hankins is getting.

Agree, and signing Poe shouldn't take priority over Norwell. But there aren't that many avenues for improving the team in FA this time. Might as well try where we can.
