Damn, one week too late.

Don't really know what Sam can or can't do, but I really know what Ryan can't do. Can't be a statue out there with this overpaid Oline.

Can we also sit Reich out too.

If we are going to lose anyway, can't we at least be entertained? For the first time in a long damn time, I missed the Colts game. Just didn't care to watch it.

And please don't put Foles out there, just another washed up old dude who can't move.

All the old QB's such as Brady, Rodgers, and Ryan need to hang them up. Brady really looks like shit too, but that's a good thing.

So Reich himself said it was a separation, not a sprain.

I've had a separated shoulder and it took weeks to get over and I wasn't a 37 year old QB trying to throw a ball and take hits.

I think the Ehlinger embrace might be coming after they talked and realized Ryan couldn't recover from this very quickly. I could be wrong

I’m not so sure that this is a decision because of any injury to Ryan. I believe this has been at least thought about for a few weeks. Promoting Ehlinger to second string was a move that may have presaged this move. The injury deal saves Ryan some face. Why would they say Sam is the starter going forward if this was about an injury to Ryan? They don’t want any controversy when Ryan is ready to play in a few weeks.

Total desperation time. Unless he’s legitimately hurt.

Apparently Reich said they were going to Ehlinger anyway even if Ryan weren’t hurt. That seems weird to me. Why say that?

Saying that was completely unnecessary. Now it’s gonna be hard to go back to Ryan if they need to. Which they will because Ehlinger blows.

Just say Sam is starting because Ryan is hurt.

JMV is reporting that it’s believed they plan to stick with Ehlinger through the rest of the season and that Irsay leaned hard on them to go that direction. JMV didn’t say this explicitly but implied that Irsay would prefer we put ourselves in better drafting position if Ehlinger sucks. Of course nobody would admit to such publicly.

Sorry, but I’m not buying that. Jim doesn’t care about the draft, he wants to win. And he’s never been a meddler.

Besides, it’s not like they’re out of the hunt. They’re 3-3-1.

I don’t think this came from Jim, but if it did, it’s because he thinks Ehlinger is better.

My gut feeling is that Irsay got tired of this shit, pretty much like every other Colt fan on the planet. Reich's leash is pretty damn short right now, as it should be, possibly even to a lesser extent Ballards.

Ryan is also guaranteed 12 mill next year. Pretty big cap hit for a guy that probably won’t be here.

Part of me thinks it's just for Ehlinger's confidence, regardless of the true reason for his promotion.

As for what the true reason is... if Ryan's injury to his throwing shoulder is severe; at his age, it might be the case that they all see his return window near the end of the season anyway. So why bother bringing him back? This is what I lean toward.

Then I think... well, they did already move Ehlinger ahead of Foles before any of this injury stuff. Maybe he was on his way up and Ryan's bad game was the coup de grace for his season.
