Well TY Hilton stole the show, dude was killing it out there today

Other than that nothing stood out but there was NO— Leonard, Moore, Campbell

Walker was playing OLB, I like that okreke looked fast out there so I’m all for a Leonard- okreke- Walker LB core

Hines was back there fielding punts

Also I was watching practice thinking dam I’m glad they didn’t trade brisset

And Hunt is a monster out there

Finally grand park is nice but I’d honestly rather just go to Lucas oil and watch the practices

My guess is they are getting the guys familiar with all positions in their group in case they have injuries and to help sow confusion in presnap reads. "Walker is a MIKE always right? No wait, now he is at WILL. ...Now he is at Nickle." Ebuflus' system of responsibilities is simple for the player, but his personnel groups have a lot of similar built athletes that can fulfill multiple tasks on the defense. Making pre-snap reads difficult, which is key to disrupting the best QB's. Looks at what Wade Phillips defenses do to Brady. Kinda reminds me in concept of Buddy Ryan's old 46 defense. That is completely different in execution, but you would have 10 guys near the line of scrimmage and you wouldn't always know what those guys were doing except the FS who was always covering the deep pass. Pre-snap reads are so important now, also the coach is in the QB's ear till the cut off point. Disguising what is happening is so important, especially with something based on the old cover-2 where responsibilities are simple.

I read something today that said the WR competition is fierce. On any given day one of the WRs is making plays Veasy, Hogan, Ishmael, Mojo, Fountain, Cain, Pascal, Rogers. They are going to have a tough time cutting them down.

Reliably, I don't think so.

Catching and returning punts is becoming a lost art. Colleges don't use their best guys to do it anymore. And college teams have so many scholarship players they can find a guy who does it well keeping their best players free for the offense.

And of course its the best guys that get drafted. NFL rosters are so small they don't have that luxury. Unless you're the best on your NFL team, you will have to play special teams, but the player probably hasn't played special teams since middle school. If you are a good player, and you have special teams experience, it may actually help you make a roster.

Same concept of why Cambell was playing outside receiver. Cambell could do it, and he could run the whole route tree if they worked on it with him. But he played the slot so well and he did those plays so well, why move him? They also had good guys that could play the outside effectively. College specializes their players more, but the NFL requires versatility.

Im so old I remember when the LA Rams used a full back as their punt returner. I think his name was Bertlsen. Not a lot of moves but he ran over a few dbs.

I would love to see that. Last great FB was Alstott, wish the position was still around.

I don’t know what to make of Speed looks like he’s stuck in between not big enough to play d-line and too long and lanky to be a LB

I remember Jim Bertelson was a running back who played for Darrell Royal at Texas in early 70's
