Banogu will make the 53 and play significant time if he continues on this path. This is a great development for the Colts. I'm not saying he will be all pro (I'm not saying it is impossible) but even a decent rotational piece would be a win. I think he will be that and probably more.

He will play on special teams as well. He has physical skills, he is still learning to be a player

I thought the game day rosters were going to be 55, wasn't that one of the covid rule changes the NFL made permanent ??

The official roster number is 53 and that is the number that teams will need to reach on final cut down day.

However, the COVID-related roster rules have been extended for this season. That means that teams can elevate up to 2 players from the practice squad before game day and carry either 54 or 55 players on the game day roster. Those "elevated" players revert to the practice squad the day after the game without the need to pass through the waivers process.
