Rivers probably could have run that for some yardage ...... if he hadn't gotten the 1st down doing so, it still would have been close enough to go for it on 4th down at that part of the field.

He needs to remember that with Reich as the head coach, he almost always has 4 downs to work with, and not just 3.

Yes.

And as slow as he is, he still could have gotten at least 3 or 4 of the 6 yards that was needed. It certainly was a better idea than what he did (forcing the ball into coverage.)
