I suppose you'd say it was an exciting game but I'd like to have those 3
hours I spent watching the game back all the same. They were gifted an opportunity to get back in the playoff hunt but followed the same script they have the previous 7 weeks. The defense couldn't hold a 14 point lead. I know they secured 4 turnovers but boy did they play like shit in between. People that think drafting or signing a QB is going to be a panacea are fooling themselves. This unit still needs a fair amount of work, which makes sense since Ballard inherited a bare cupboard there. And of course the offense and ST shit their pants down the stretch. They need a kicker, obviously. Wr is a glaring need. And QB, I don't think Jacoby is quite good enough. I don't want to move up to get one though, if one is there at one of their top 2 picks take him otherwise wait till next year when I believe there is a deeper QB class and Brissets contract is up. This is a tough minded, resilient team with a GM that has a pretty good head on his shoulders but boy is there a lot of work to be done. |

I'm going to quit with the Fran Tarkenton reference ........ Curtis Painter wearing Bert Jones' number in a Colts uniform was sometimes that was kind of tough for me to watch at the time, hence my willingness to reference anything that he did or did not do when he was here is much less than doing so for an infamous pass that was thrown in a Super Bowl game. o

...and I say the front office heard from him months before week 3 of the preseason that his mind wasn't in it to win it any longer. Anyone thinking he just woke up on that Saturday and said "fuck it, I'm done" without any prior word to Ballard or Irsay is naive. Why else was Peyton Manning randomly brought in just before the announcement? He was Irsay's Hail Mary attempt to save this whole fiasco by having Peyton talk him off the ledge.
Luck's a dipshit for what he did, but Ballard and Irsay are part of the clown show too. Beyond that, fuck Ballard for having two long-term projects taking up roster spots in Fountain and Cain. Neither of those two were "next man up" levels of being ready and it fucked up the offense as soon as injuries happened. He needs to stop being cute with the depth spots. Sure, they won't be All-Pro's, but these guys couldn't replace Blair White or John Standeford. Last edited by Colt Classic; 12-08-2019 at 06:17 PM. |

The main talkers on 1070 the Fan's daily shows are basically Irsay's mouthpiece, especially JMV (with his sources in the Irsay family) and Rakestraw. Throughout the season, they've fed the naive "only Luck knew he was going to walk away up until the last minute" viewpoint. Of course, Irsay himself isn't going to lob bombs at Luck now, he has too move on and Ballard has to try to continue to pursue free agents.

I don’t get why so many people say Luck gave the team a heads up. Because it was the right thing to do? People do make impulsive moves. I have zero information as to what went down. I have not read anything that says he told everybody in the organization for months that he wasn’t into football anymore. I don’t blame him for his decision but is it reported anywhere that Ballard are a heads up and just blew it off?
