What’s likely happening is the Colts are in rebuilding mode. Which is sad because they never seemed to have actually got to winning mode under Ballard.

Gilmore’s more than 30 years old, and he’s under contract for another year. What’s the sense of keeping him around for what will likely be a lost season, only to lose him to free agency? Trade hi, get a draft pick, and use the cap space you carve out to sign a younger piece who’ll still be in his prime in 2 years.
