There is really a vast number of things that this team needs to do to stay afloat. Before I address those things, a few points about the season:
1) I have said since week 3 that Frank needs to relinquish his play calling duties. He called a few nice games but overall really fucked this team over as a whole by his stubborn, bone-headed, predictably unpredictable play calling. By seasons end, this become SO obvious. 2)We should have made the smart decision while we had the chance/excuse to do so....we Should have opened this season with Wentz on IR. He was injured. If we had done that, we could have also sat him for the week he got COVID and we would have had our top 20 pick back, insured ourselves against the (inevitable) chance that Wentz turned out to be the turd he is, and also saved face in regards to the optics of sitting Wentz for a legitimate reason. Shit we lost the first 4 games anyway. 3)Our receiving targets are shit. Pittman is a solid WR2. We need a WR1, WR3, TE 1 AND TE2. 4)We need 2 solid corners and a pass rusher on D, maybe 2. And a more aggressive scheme. that's about it. In my view, and literally the only thing that can assist to helping us out of this mess, is: TRADE BIG Q! TRADE BIG Q! Use the money elsewhere for his contract, attain likely a first rounder, and have Chris Reid take his spot. I love Q, but he is expendable and we have proven to be okay without him in the lineup. Literally the only guy right now that might score us a high pick back. We also MUST bring in a veteran QB to compete for the starter spot next year ALA Dalton, Minshew, etc. Free Agents that I would try and bring in are: Winston, Foles, Mariota, Trubisky. All somewhat young and could possibly pull a Tannehill and re emerge. |

Woke up at 4:30 this morning after a very restful 8-hours, and have more energy and exuberance on a Monday morning that I've had in a long time. Think I may have to "have my Sundays back" more next year during football season. I don't see the results being much different unless Wentz finally figures out how to be a competent QB and we can develop a pass rush. Same shit, different season this year...a .500-ish team who beats a couple of legit teams, has a few major chokejobs, and a couple of inexcusable losses to bad teams. I'm sure it'll be wash, rinse, and repeat next year as long as Wentz is our QB and we don't upgrade at WR on offense and edge and secondary on defense. |

That seems weird since Glowinski was the highest graded player on the line all year. He's the only one who didn't regress.

I don’t know what kind of grading system they’re using but it’s not good. Glowinski sucked most of the year.

Glow was a habitual holder last year, but I thought was improved this year...

The problem isn't going to be cured by trading the best offensive lineman in football for a high draft choice. And Irsay will never trade Nelson.

I didn't propose that this would cure the wound but it sure would make it hurt less.
I ask you this: With the current construct of this roster, do YOU want to pay an Offensive Guard (As good as Nelson is, generationally good) almost 20 million a year? Because that is what it will cost to retain him going forward. OR we can resign Glowinski for 2 years and Reid for 2 or 3 years at probably 15 million combined maybe even 10. Not to mention the fact that we could get a 1st round pick for Q, maybe even more. Think the Eagles would give up Minshew and a 1st for Nelson? I do. And I think out team would be better off for it. The extra 10 million that we save could be spent on a corner, on a WR, or a TE. Or dare I say an extra Veteran QB like Mariota, Trubisky or Winston? We need someone to compete with Wentz to be the starter. Someone that is young with some upside. |
