Does not mean that NE will not sign him long-term.

They are just not picking up his 5th year option.

I don't see him as an impact player in the league.

Sure, he is averaging 50 tackles per season which is pretty good for a D-Lineman but he only has 8.5 sacks and 6 TFL in 3 seasons which means he does not play on the offense's side of the LoS very often.

For reference, Al Woods has 6 behind the LoS plays for us in 2017 alone (1 sacks, 5 TFL) which is at a greater rate than Malcolm Butler has done for a far better defense which you would suspect has more players to draw blocking scheme attention away from him than our defense does.

Sure, another name to potentially throw into next year's free agency class but if Ballard passes on him, I will not be surprised.
