I think that you are correct ...... if anything, Kraft probably views Belichick as someone who is getting the most out of a sub-par team. They have gotten blown out twice, but 4 of their other 5 losses have been very close games, and they have an upset win over the Bills. Kraft is not George Steinbrenneresque in regard to being short-sighted and impulsive regarding hiring-and-firing head coaches, and/or demanding that players who have a bad game or 2 be jettisoned from the team.
