Why? What dictates that the Colts are required to draft a QB? I know Irsay said they're going to draft and develop, but he's also a reasonable owner who listens to his talent evaluation staff. If they're saying the QB(s) left are very likely to bust and very unlikely to produce a starting NFL QB but the best player available is likely to be an elite defender for several years, I think he signs off on that.

There's no decent starter available in Round 2. Hendon Hooker is a 26 year old who can't hit the broad side of a barn, isn't as strong and fast, and is coming off an ACL tear.

Hooker signed with Virginia Tech after winning two state titles and throwing for over 6,000 yards and 55 touchdowns at Dudley High School in North Carolina. As a redshirt freshman, he played in six games as a reserve (4-57-14.3, one TD rushing). Hokies coaches started Hooker eight times in 2019 (the team won his first six starts) and he set a school record with 124 completions without an interception (99-162-61.1%, 1,555 yards, 13 TDs, two INTs passing; 123-356-2.9, five TDs rushing). He started seven of eight games in 2020 (98-150-65.3%, 1,339 yards, nine TDs, five INTs passing; 120-620-5.2, nine TDs rushing) but decided he needed a change in scenery. Hooker took over the Tennessee job early in the 2021 season (11 starts in 13 games) and ended up ranking third in the FBS in pass efficiency (181.4) and fourth with 9.72 yards per attempt (206-303-68%, 2,945 yards, 31 TDs, three INTs passing; 166-616-3.7, five TDs rushing). He threw 140 passes without an interception during the season. Hooker was an early Heisman Trophy favorite in 2022, eventually winning SEC Offensive Player of the Year and being named a third-team Associated Press All-American. After throwing for 3,135 yards (229-329-69.6%) and 27 scores (against just two interceptions) and rushing for 430 yards (104 carries, 4.1 per) and five touchdowns in 11 starts, however, he suffered a torn left ACL that ended his season. Hooker led the nation's top offense (in yards per game and points scored) with an FBS-best 9.53 yards per pass attempt. He also ranked second in pass efficiency (175.5) and seventh in completion percentage in 2022 and set Tennessee records by throwing 261 passes without an interception and recording a touchdown pass in 20 straight games. -- by Chad Reuter

Hooker seems to have had a pretty good college career, and he definitely can hit the inside of a barn

Accuracy and ball placement are lacking with Hooker.

What the heck are you talking about? Hooker completed almost 70 percent of his passes last year. That was better than Stroud or Young.

And don’t give me that crap about the offense he played in. They said the same thing about Mahomes. If the guy has talent, that’s not a dealbreaker by any stretch.

Oh no! We're super fucked now!! I mean our previous coaching staff couldn't fix Wentz's issues so there's no way the new coaching staff will be able to fix Levis'

I am not going to sit here and say Levis can't be fixed. For evidence, we have Brett Favre, Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts.

Shit, I don't care which one of these guys they draft as long as they get it right and don't motrgage the farm to do it.

I just watched some really good tape on Levis vs Ole Miss. He was playing with multiple injuries and still taking hits to deliver throws and running the ball.

I've watched Hooker and Young and Stroud. One thing that definitely stood out to me is that Stroud and Young rarely faced adversity or had to make off platform throws.

I've seen good stuff on all of these QB's. They are all talented. But which one will run the fucking team!

Those seem like pretty good statistics to me !! I would have no problem if Ballard drafted him.

Now, now. Let's not bring anything objective like statistics into the conversation. We all know what Dam sees on this film he watches is the absolute truth. Obviously Hooker was just super lucky 70% of the time he threw the ball.

And all those passes he threw without the other team catching one, just unbelievably lucky.
