Watt will only count $4.9M on the 2021 cap by structuring the contract as a 5 year deal. Arizona added 3 dummy voidable years to the contract to spread out the signing bonus. This will result in a $7.2M dead money charge in 2023.
We will probably see other teams use this same strategy to sign free agents this year.
i don't really care for that kind of cap tomfoolery.
