I don't know, but I'd place my bet on Bridgewater if I was making the call.

Bridgewater had a nice 5 game stretch I’d be hesitant to throw him big $$$

But you're fine with throwing "big $$$" at a 38 year old Philip Rivers?

I don't think anyone is talking about Rivers getting big money at this point in his career

If they're not going to throw starter money ($15+ million per year) at him, then they don't think he's a starter, so why bother?

There's pro and cons on any of the free agent QBs. That much I recognize. But, to me, it's clear that if we begin next season with Brissett as our starter, my expectations would clearly be very low.

It's hard to disagree with that... If Brissett is starting it will be another 6-10 to an 8-8 season. I dont think Ballard stands pat and rides with Brissett.

I'm not a fan of Rivers but...... if Ballard likes him as an option to give us a chance to win now even at 15-20 mil a year... which is barely in the top 15 of paid QB if that.

Mahomes didnt start right away so weather the guy Ballard sees as our Mahomes this year or next year... maybe Rivers could be the guy that gives us a SB shot now until the young QB is ready to take over.

Or we sit on that extra cap space like every year and dont

If Rivers could be what gets us to a SB win, I would be glad to say I was wrong. I just don't see it as the answer. I also don't see JB as the answer. To me, the only quarterbacks available (even though neither is actually available) are Brees and Luck.
