Seahawks agreed to trade their franchise player, DE Frank Clark, to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2019 first-round pick, a 2020 second-round pick and an exchange of third-round picks this year, per league sources.
Seems like a massive overpay.

That might impact the Colts in a few ways. Seattle will be looking at EDGE help at 21 and 29 and may no longer be looking to trade down from 21. Could affect the Colts at both 26 and 34.

Brian Burns certainly won’t make it to 26. Especially with Gary now looking hurt. That’s another dline sliding.

They got a 2nd for Ford, but gave up a 1st and a 2020 2nd for Clark. Is Frank Clark really that much of an upgrade to Dee Ford? I don't see it. WTF are the Chiefs doing?

Yes they basically

Gave up a first round pick and

Swapped some 2nd and 3rd round picks

to upgrade from Dee Ford to Clark.

And they paid him a ton of money to do it.

Plus this is supposed to be a draft full of defensive pass rushers, which means it makes even less sense to trade a first and pay all that money

Don't like the deal for KC, but hey, all the better for the Colts.

I am glad Ballard despite being with KC previously is not prone to such deals.

Chiefs signed DE Frank Clark to a five-year, $105.5 million contract.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the agreement includes $63.5 million guaranteed. It is essentially the deal DeMarcus Lawrence signed in Dallas. It is also a deal the Seahawks had no interest in making, but the Chiefs are doling it out on top of the major draft pick assets they shipped to Seattle. It is the culmination of the Chiefs' hasty switch from a 3-4 to 4-3 defense, a transition that saw them trade Dee Ford and cut Justin Houston before adding Clark. The Super Bowl-or-bust Chiefs are going to need Clark to at least match last year's career-high 13 sacks for the move to be worth it.

I'm as quick as anyone to call out Ballard for being too conservative, but even I can say that that is WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY too much.

What the hell are the Chiefs saying? They cut Kareem Hunt then sign this guy who becomes the face of your defense. Really distasteful. Glad I'm not a Chiefs fan

I have no issues with the Team that got in the Colts way in the playoffs that cant get out of their own way in their recent decisions.

Mahomes will not put up another year the same. I expect him to come back to earth and have some struggles.

Obviously teams were better able to plan for the Chefs and Rims as the season went on. I agree with your assessment. Their team might be getting worse.
