Default So, what next?

They have $33 Million in cap space and holes at WR and DE.

There are a handful of free agents available who might offer help; Jauan Jennings would look good lined up opposite Pierce; guys like Bosa, Miller or Clowney might have a season’s worth of gas left in the tank.

Do you bide your time, waiting for some team trying to unload a premium WR at bargain basement prices, this year’s version of AJ Brown? Do you approach the Giants, who seem flush with edge rushers, about a trade for Thibodeaux?

Or do you do nothing, trusting that the guys you have will step up, that someone like Ashton Dulin or Deion Burks is able to channel his inner Reggie Wayne? That the picks of Gumbs or Curry will improve your record at picking DE’s, getting you just a little bit closer to the Mendoza line?

If you were a fresh faced exec, newly promoted to GM, with years left to prove your mettle, doing nothing might be a viable course. You evaluate your roster, hoard cap space, roll over $25 Million into next year’s cap and go big in free agency in 2027.

But, does the current regime have the breathing space to run that course? Do they need to do stuff, eke out every last win, trying to forestall the sword of Damocles hanging over their heads?
