What's more concerning is if his struggles are due to back issues, which he had off and on in '20 and '21, and not the big contract flu.

Built in excuses at this point. As I recall, he wasn't good the year before, either. Got lazy after he got paid. He's not alone in that regard.

To be fair I thought he was pretty good in '21. Although there wasn't much drop off from Kelly to Pinter, so maybe it was more Nelson and Glow than Kelly. Either way he was horrible in '22. Quite possibly the worst OC in the league.

In the grand scheme of things his $1M roster bonus isn't that much, so maybe Ballard's waiting to release him until after he gets an OC in either the draft or FA.
