The boring, inevitable answer is the same one we've had: we don't have the QB figured out. Sorry, but it's not just another position on the team. You can't just handwave it like, "Sure, that's a factor, but moving on..."
It's like evaluating your drive train: You've got a solid chassis, you've got the driveshaft, wheels, suspension, fuel injectors, etc. But, one thing: the transmission seizes up every few miles. It's super smooth and real exciting when it's working, but it keeps seizing up. So now all components look bad.
Get a new transmission you say? Well, they only make like 2 good ones per year, if that. And it's kind of a lottery who gets to take them. We tried a few used models... One worked great, the other two seemed promising, but not so much.
