One other thing I like about the McDaniels hiring is that if he fails here that will be two head coaching failures in a row. He probably doesn't get a third chance. He's not stupid and knows that. He must be convinced that there is a damn good chance Luck will be Luck next year. We won't know until games are played (and that is half the enjoyment) but it gives me optimism, something I haven't felt in years. I'll take it

Come on be fair. I am sure Dam will not want him to fail, he does want the Colts to win. Hate on his opinions all you want, but it is clear he is a Colts fan. He will just come up with some bullshit about he had nothing with the success if it happens. You know because coaching does not matter.

I can look past McD's failed Denver/Rams stints, and his involvement with the cheats history of ignoring the rules, but i can't get past that ugly AF visor. Get a hat or gtfo... but in all seriousness, I'm happy with the hire, I trust Ballard and his judgement, excited about the new DC and hope we can trade back, pick up some extra high end picks and still snag a Chubb, Barkley, or Nelson.

I agree with you, to an extent. If it is McDaniels, all bets are off on whether he will support him or not.

McDaniels was not my first choice either for this job. There are legitimate concerns about what he did in Denver and the BB coaching tree is short on success stories once they leave NE.
However, if nothing else, the offense should be better with a system based on 21st century NFL reality finally. He should at the very least find a way to maximize the potential of the WRs and RBs, plus allow Luck to get rid of the ball quicker and take fewer hits. His shoulder situation should be less of a concern with shorter, quicker routes. |
